The Culture and Leisure Administration is responsible for, among other things, cultural schools, libraries, museums, events, art halls, grants for associations, cultural heritage environments, swimming, sports, and outdoor activities.

The Culture Unit works with:

  • Production and coordination of open program activities and stage technology
  • Communication for concerts, dance and theater performances, fairs, festivals, talks, and exhibitions
  • Sandviken Art Hall, public art, and art pedagogy
  • Production and coordination of the Cultural Promise (all students aged 4-16 in the municipality are offered professional cultural experiences and their own cultural practice during school and preschool hours each academic year)
  • Production and coordination of Well-being 2026-2028 – a strategic coordination of cultural and leisure offerings for seniors and other care recipients
  • Rental of premises at the Cultural Center and about ten additional properties that serve as venues for the non-profit sector in the municipality
  • Support for folk education and associations, museums, and cultural heritage environments, scholarships, and awards

The Culture Unit works closely with other public actors, the free cultural sector, and the non-profit sector both inside and outside Sandviken. The unit has a coordinating mission within the cultural house Cultural Center where premises, offerings, and communication are coordinated with the Public Library, the Literature House Trampolin, the Culture School, and the People's House.

The Culture Unit's workgroup consists of a unit manager, two cultural producers, five cultural coordinators, a communicator, and stage technicians. The unit is regularly complemented by art and culture hosts, stage and exhibition technicians, and other contractors.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The cultural coordinator focusing on audience development will work as an integrated part of the Culture Unit's various program activities by

  • Planning and implementing certain program activities with a particular focus on pedagogy and programs related to the art activities at the Cultural Center
  • Leading collaborations that strengthen audience development at the Cultural Center
  • Working on audience development for larger events at the Cultural Center
  • Coordinating training and guidance for care staff within Well-being and pedagogical staff within the Cultural Promise
  • Coordinating art and culture hosts and strengthening the work with active hosting and audience meetings within Well-being, the Cultural Promise, the open program activities, and in the Art Hall
  • Meeting the audience in connection with events

In the work with audience development, it includes booking, team-leading, and training all art and culture hosts in active hosting and safety. Working closely with program managers and communicators to anchor projects, strengthen relationships with partners, and develop events and experiences. The work is carried out in close collaboration with others in the unit as well as cultural educators, business developers, and others within the Cultural Center and external parties.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Academic education in the cultural field
  • Work experience in the cultural field, preferably in a politically governed organization
  • Work experience in cultural mediation and knowledge of pedagogical methods, cultural pedagogy, reception, active hosting, and similar issues
  • Solid experience in cultural production, program planning, and cultural administration
  • Driver's license (B)
  • Competence to work with various digital systems

It is also desirable to have

  • Experience working in schools, based on curricula and/or care and nursing activities.

OTHER

Uncomfortable working hours are included in the position, staffing during evenings and weekends occurs.
